Why Learn English Through News?

Image
Learn Relevant, Up-to-date Vocabulary Language is about making sense of real-life issues. News programs focus on issues that matter to you and on how you live your life. It makes sense to learn English in a context you can actually use. Reading or listening to news keeps you up-to-date with the current discourse (conversations people are having) in English. Not only will you pick up essential vocabulary for political, economic and cultural issues, but you’ll also learn how these issues are framed and approached in the Anglophone world. Improve both Listening and Reading Skills The news is accessible in many forms: broadcast on TV, aired on the radio (or through podcasts), and printed in newspapers or displayed on websites. English news articles are written clearly , making them perfect for learning new vocabulary. Similarly, TV news reports are always spoken with a clear, standard accent from the region (like the U.S., U.K., etc.). This will help boost your

How it Works

we view learning as involving an array of complex cognitive processes that involve the processing of information/input from external sources (i.e., teachers, fellow learners, textbooks and other learning resources, etc.), relating new information with old knowledge and also with other new information, developing understanding and insight regarding this information. Learning also involves acquiring or attaining a level of mastery and automaticity in processing or using this learned information, and communicating the knowledge and skills one has developed to others. Through the meticulously planned training method we strive to maximize learning opportunities, Encourage learner autonomy, Increase language awareness (tolerant of learner errors) Contextualize language input, Integrate language skills. Maximising Vocabulary Usage

There's nothing worse than WANTING to use a particular English word... and KNOWING that you know the word; you've studied the word... but you just can't think of it at the moment. It's really frustrating! Why does this happen? Why is it so hard to bring words to mind when you need to use them? The answer is related to... Active vs. passive vocabulary Your passive vocabulary includes words that you can recognize and understand if you see them, or if someone else says them to you. Your active vocabulary is the words that you can understand AND use yourself. And to be noted that this has nothing to do with "active voice" and "passive voice" in grammar. It is a completely different concept. Most people have a bigger passive vocabulary than active vocabulary. This means you can understand better than you can speak. You know a lot of English words, but you feel like you don't have enough vocabulary to express yourself fully. S
